Haydn Shaughnessy · Founder, TheContentStudio.com · for argument's sake / for arguments sake / Knowledge Management / what's new
At the cross media conference in Amsterdam two distinct lines of thinking are obvious among presenters in the early stages.Presenters Michael Johnson (Pixar) and John Underkoffler (Minority Report adviser) are stressing narrative and winning the devotion of audiences. Gary Carter (freemantle, UK) is emphasising how media organisations are losing power.I don’t say these are antagonistic...

Torpark
Bruce Schneier · Founder and Chief Technical Officer, Counterpane · it security
Torpark is a free anonymous web browser. It sounds good : A group of computer hackers and human rights workers have launched a specially-crafted version of Firefox that claims to give users complete anonymity when they surf the Web. Dubbed "Torpark" and based on a portable version of Firefox 1.5.0.7, the browser will run from a USB drive, so it leaves no installation tracks on the PC. It protects the user's privacy by encrypting all in- and outbound data, and also anonymizes the connection by passing all data through the TOR network, which masks the true IP address of the machine.

FairUse4WM News
Bruce Schneier · Founder and Chief Technical Officer, Counterpane · it security
A couple of weeks I ago I wrote about the battle between Microsoft's DRM system and FairUse4WM, which breaks it. The news for this week is that Microsoft has patched their security against FairUseWM 1.2 and filed a lawsuit against the program's anonymous authors, and those same anonymous authors have released FairUse4WM 1.3 , which breaks the latest Microsoft patch.
